    Her specialties are isolation, depression, anxiety, PTSD, life transitions, living with suicide, LGBTQ issues, and Stepfamily problems. She is a stepfamily-savvy coach.

     

    Ms. Capers co-wrote a paper with Dr. Al Erdynast, presented at Fordham University, and invited to speak at Harvard Medical School, about applying the work of legal scholar John Rawls to psychotherapy. She is working on a book utilizing Rawlsian material. (ucsd.academia.edu/NancyCapers)

    A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist holds a master’s or doctoral degree from an accredited school in addition to a minimum 5,000 hours of post-masters supervised experience in a clinical setting. The therapist must be licensed, certified, and registered at the clinical level in the jurisdiction of practice. An LMFT provides direct services, including interventions focused on interpersonal interactions, intrapsychic dynamics, and life management issues. LMFT services are based on bio-psychosocial perspectives. Services consist of assessment, diagnosis, treatment (psychotherapy) client-centered advocacy, consultation, evaluation, and prevention of mental illness, emotional, or behavioral disturbances.
